Coal Miner Killed in Rangely

Federal investigators are trying to determine if a Utah man was following proper safety procedures before he died at a Colorado coal mine.  Jason Stevens of Vernal died last Tuesday at the Deserado mine near Rangely.  Stevens was working alone while taking apart a filtering trough at the mine and was found dead after the metal structure apparently fell on him.  The U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration is investigating Stevens’ death.
